  • Great Minds, Great Success

Without mastering our mind, success will always be just out of reach.

Adjusting our mindset to be one of growth, positivity, resilience, confidence, can change everything.

The success we all seek, starts between our ears.

The very first thing is you must believe if you don’t know it, you can learn it.

This is the power of a growth mindset.

A growth mindset is of the belief that we are constantly growing and developing.

Nothing is fixed.

We can always change and adapt.

Some changes might be harder than others, but with enough work and enough time, anything is possible.

Unfortunately, many people suffer from a fixed mindset.

Perhaps not always as a whole, but even a fixed mindset about 1 thing, can stop you.

I’m not good at math.

I’m not creative.

I’m not funny.

I’m not smart.

These are thoughts of a fixed mindset.

The I’m not’s.

The other symptom of a fixed mindset is “I can’t.”

I can’t is one of the most fixed responses I hear on a daily basis.

When someone tells me they can’t, all I hear is I won’t.

Can’t is a cop out for trying.

It’s a cop out for learning.

For challenging.

For growing.

You might not be able to complete the task right this moment, but saying you can’t ensures you won’t be able to complete it next time either.

Try changing the way you approach failure moments.

I’m trying.

I’m working at that.

My system is still processing.

I’ll get this next time.

I’m not saying you should acknowledge failure or shortcomings.

I’m just saying you should adjust your vocabulary to assist you.

It’s a lot easier to try something that you’re working on to get better, than something you don’t believe you can do.

Over time can’t leads to quit.

  • I get knocked down, but I get up again, no you’re never gonna keep me down.

Thank you Chumbawamba for your 1997 hit Tubthumping.

It’s a goofy song, but this line is 1000% true.

This is how we should approach our life.

You can’t avoid the thumping’s of life.

Life is going to hit hard.

It’s going to push you to your breaking point.

Lean on you and try to keep you down.

It’s only when you push through and stand back up that you realize the weight was all in your mind.

YOU made it heavier than it was.

I’m not trying to take away from the moment that put you down.

But the moment is brief, the residual effect is where you create the weight.

Some events will take more time to work through, but once you start to stand back up, everything begins to change.

You break the weight barrier that was holding you there.

So, drive those heels in the ground and push.

It may seem like an immovable weight at the moment, but once you start to push, you’ll feel it break loose.

And then the weight will roll off your shoulders.

This is what it means to be resilient.

To learn to take the hits.

To take the weight.

To fall, and then rise again.

There is no shame in falling down.

There’s no shame is laying on the mat for a minute.

Just make sure the ref doesn’t count to 10.

Get back up.

Get back in the fight.

Keep stepping forward.

Never retreat.

Resilience is a powerful tool, one that gets stronger the more you use it.

So practice doing things you don’t like to do.

Do hard things.

Step out of your comfort on purpose.

Then when life hits you, you’ll be ready.

Recently a person I’ve connected with completed the David Goggins Challenge 4 miles every 4 hours for 100 miles, but did it twice! His name is Tobi Emonts-Holley and this video shares his experience of doing 100 miles.

Good Motivation:

Sometimes we just need a little motivation. Here’s a get after it video featuring Tony Robbins. Get fired up and get to work!

Need a Coach?

As an athlete I always appreciated good coaching.

It often made the difference between a successful season and an average one.

When you’ve got big goal to compete at the highest level, it helps to have someone looking at the big picture, while you focus on the specific actions.

Have you got something big coming up?

Need someone to help organize the path forward?

Let me know what you’re working on and we’ll see if I’m the right fit.

I've spent the last 15 years working with clients as a personal trainer and coach helping them build healthy sustainable habits.

During this time I've learned the psychology of habit creation, the power of systems, and why simple works better.

I'd love to help you reach your goals.

I'm currently looking to add 2 new coaching clients to my roster.
