Happy New Year!
Make 2024 Your Best Year Yet
Happy New Year
I hope everyone safe and enjoyable New Year.
I’d love to hear what your big goals are for this coming year.
Today’s Quote
We spend January 1st walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives, not looking for flaws, but for potential.
Start the Year Strong
Set a pace you can keep.
Too often we get amped up by the changing of the year.
New year new me!
But, change doesn’t happen like that.
Change doesn’t occur because the number on the calendar suddenly reads a bigger number.
Change is a constant pursuit.
And this year, I want to see you accomplish all the changes you’re seeking to achieve.
So, aim small out the gate instead of big.
Every year I see people amped up and shoot out the gates guns blazing.
They crush the first week.
But the pace is too much to keep.
They can’t consistently accomplish everything they wrote down.
Before long, they’re skipping tasks.
They’re missing their targets.
Then they quit.
It does you no good to sprint the first lap of a 4 lap race if you can’t even make it to lap 2.
Set a pace that is just enough to keep the ball moving forward.
Fast doesn’t win, steady does.
It may not feel like much today, but 365 days from now it sure will.
Win small today.
Spend time defining everything.
If you haven’t yet write down all your plans for this year.
Writing things down makes them significantly more likely to occur.
But then once you have them written down, define everything.
The more specific you can make things in your life the better you will be prepared to accomplish them.
Define success.
Define winning.
Define greatness.
Define healthy.
Whatever you’re aiming at should be defined to specific terms.
Whether that’s using numbers or definitions, that’s up to you to determine.
The most important thing about achieving the goals we set for ourselves, is knowing what success looks like.
Simple goals like lose weight, grow my business, improve relationships.
They don’t mean anything.
Make every goal you write mean something.
How much weight, why, to what end?
Grow your business in what way?
Hire employees?
Increase revenue?
Increase following, jobs, projects?
See when you start to ask yourself questions about your goals you can get to the root.
And it’s at the root we find out what really matters.

Need a Coach?
As an athlete I always appreciated good coaching.
It often made the difference between a successful season and an average one.
When you’ve got big goal to compete at the highest level, it helps to have someone looking at the big picture, while you focus on the specific actions.
Have you got something big coming up?
Need someone to help organize the path forward?
