Greatness is YOUR Choice
This is a powerful realization.
One that most ever come to.
I watch as people blame the world around them for their current situation.
It’s ok, we all feel frustrated or stuck sometimes.
It’s ok to wish things were easier or that you didn’t feel like the world was constantly shitting on you.
But, when we start to blame circumstance for our current situation, we lose control.
We lose control to make a change.
We lose control to fix things.
And when we lose control, we become lost.
Adrift among the others blaming the world for things.
And that’s no place to be.
When you take a moment to look at those around us finding success you’ll find something they all share.
A belief that they control their situation.
They can impact change.
They can get what they want if they just work a little harder.
Study a little more.
Practice a particular skill.
It’s all up to them.
It’s a choice to look at the world as fluid and malleable.
Nothing is fixed.
Sure, you may be starting from a tougher spot than those around you.
Sure, you may have the odds stacked against you.
But, all that really means is that your final story will be that much more powerful.
Our biggest problem with achieving greatness isn’t that it’s too hard, but that we want it too fast.
The time component of greatness is the part that we can’t control.
There’s not telling when your time might come to find the success you seek.
However, by choosing to live life in a great manner and pursuing more, you will eventually achieve it.
How will you choose to move forward today?
The choice is entirely yours.
Finding Greatness
It’s about committing to a life of change, not a race to a result.
Too often we focus our energy and effort on the results.
Results are great, don’t get me wrong, but often they are out of our control.
You can’t control outcomes.
You can make a perfect pitch and knock it out of the park only for the company to choose a different person.
You can’t control others or what happens around you.
You can only control what is happening in your small circle.
You can control your preparation.
You can control your attitude.
You can control your effort.
You can control looking at each step as part of the process despite the results.
Or you can sulk because things aren’t going according to the plan in your mind.
When you choose the process over the results, this is how you create consistency in your life.
When your focus is on doing what you know to be the right thing, you can feel good that you did your part.
When you focus on the results you will ride the waves of success and failure.
You’ll be fine when the work you put in provides a reward, but you will struggle when that same work offers little return.
The challenge to consistency is to shift the focus.
What part of your daily efforts can you control?
What part of the process are we working on today?
Create consistency in your efforts and given enough time, anything is possible.
Mind, Body, Spirit
Mind:
Can you build a mind that allows you the ability to embrace the process? In our fast paced world, we’ve become increasingly more impatient to achieving success. Finding a way to stick to your process will give you what you need to achieve and sustain the success you seek. Find your process, and embrace it.
Body:
Building toward what we want takes time. Too often we get super excited and jump all in only to burn out and find ourself losing motivation quickly. It’s better to start slow and build momentum over time. Find consistency in your program and your efforts, that’s where the greatness you seek begins.
Spirit:
This recent change in my life has brought on a lot of stress. As a result I’ve found my emotions and patience change. I didn’t like what was happening so I started spending more time focusing on my breathing and meditation. I’ve noticed some changes and I believe that these changes could impact your life for the better, and here’s some things you could gain from taking a few minutes a day in meditation.
